Dear Sisters & Brothers,

I want to share some exciting news, the ERI was passed in the NY State Budget.  We are waiting for the Governor’s signature.

I am extremely happy for all Local 375 members who will be able to retire with this incentive. More details will follow regarding the timeframe for the incentive.

I want to thank Executive Director of DC37 Henry Garrido, Senate Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins, and Assembly Speaker Heastie for their help and support.

As you know, New York City has reformed our election system as a result of a 2019 ballot question that amended the city charter. Moving forward, local primary elections – mayor, comptroller, public advocate, and city council – will take place via Rank Choice Voting.

The Political Action Dept. will be hosting a member training to provide an overview on Rank Choice Voting to ensure our members are prepared with the information they need to accurately complete their ballots during this year’s election.

DC 37 VACCINATION DAY MARCH 27 at CITI FIELD

DC 37, in partnership with City Hall, will be hosting  “DC 37 Vaccination Day” at Citi Field on Saturday, March 27 from 9 am-7 pm. All eligible, active members are welcome to join us to receive their first dose of the vaccine. If you have eligible family members, we welcome you to bring them, as well.

On March 8, 2021, Michael Troman President of Local 375 and Dr. Paul-Michael Kazas Executive Chair of Local 375, and President of Chapter 37 met with NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr.

Senator Addabbo was honored for his life long steadfast support of our union and its members in our mutual quest to protect the working class. He has fought to ensure that we receive the support, protection, and hard-fought benefits so that our families and our children have better lives.

Presented to Senator Addabbo are Chapter 37’s Solidarity Award and a medallion with Local 375’s logo.

Dear Sisters & Brothers,

As per Henry Garrido, DC37 Executive Director, the Early Retirement Incentive Bill will be discussed in the NYS Senate on Tuesday, February 2, and in the Assembly on Thursday, February 11.

Testifying will be held virtually and through email.  I will be sending in testimony in favor of this bill. Members can help by contacting their State Senators and NY Assembly legislators and asking them to support and vote for this bill.

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Hope everyone is doing well. At yesterday’s DC37 Delegates Meeting, Executive Director Henry Garrido announced that an agreement was reached between the City and DC37, averting any layoffs until the end of the fiscal year 2021, which is through at least June 2021. Should the City receive additional funding, then the layoffs will be averted until the end of the fiscal year 2022.

DC37 is having a Facebook live meeting tomorrow at 6 pm to discuss this issue. (please click here to join the FB live).

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Please read this extremely important email from Ben Totushek regarding restoring retroactively, sick, and annual leave for members who have qualified for the 9/11 unlimited sick leave benefit.
