Questions:

1. What makes you the best candidate for Chairperson of the Executive Committee?
What drives you to serve the members in this role?

Dorita Clarke
I know the value of having a union. I know how important it is to have your union representative working hard on your behalf to ensure that you have a voice and that it is being heard. I will be a strong voice for all members to ensure our interests are well represented on the executive boards. I will evaluate key positions utilizing a performance evaluation to include members input, improve access to union resources, implement a problem-solving culture, and ensuring a legacy for the future generation of union members.

Stacey Moriates
I feel I bring a higher level of professional experience having successfully chaired committees, commissions, task forces, etc., such as the Mayor’s Hazardous Materials Task Force, the Intergovernmental Planning and Coordinating Committee [while representing NYC], the Council of Lung Associations, the NY Academy of Medicine’s Environmental Committee, the UN Committee on Sustainability Subcommittee Working Group, and L.375’s Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee is L. 375’s second-highest governing body. I too am a Local member; as such, I want to ensure there is an opportunity for presenting and discussing, fairly and openly in an unbiased and bi-partisan manner, issues that do and can affect our members.

2. How will you successfully chair meetings with a diverse group of elected officers?

Dorita Clarke
I will successfully chair meetings with our diverse group, being an elected officer too and I know how to conduct meeting base on my experience as a Chapter President and elected as the NYS Committeewoman 29 AD. My temperament and diplomacy toward others will guarantee decorum at our Executive Board Meetings. I’m looking forward to seating at the head of the table.

Stacey Moriates
The Executive Committee Chair is responsible for not only presiding over this body but ensuring the Constitution and Roberts Rules are followed.  As Chair, I consider myself and the members of this Committee, to represent our constituents’ best interests.  Consequently, as L. 375’s Executive Committee Chair, I have applied and will continue to apply fairness and respect towards those on the Committee who address members’ needs and interests.  I do not look upon us as a “diverse” group, but one that instead achieves success through “unity” in our mission- not partisanship.

3. What is the most important thing you will focus on if you are elected?

Dorita Clarke
My most important focus will be provide different certifications information to help our membership with increases and promotions at their work locations. I will work towards all of our members to have permanent city titles.

Stacey Moriates
The most important thing I will focus on is making sure that issues that benefit our members are given a high priority at this Committee, and all Committee members are given the opportunity to present their views without fear of intimidation or reprisal.
