DC 37 VACCINATION DAY MARCH 27 at CITI FIELD

DC 37, in partnership with City Hall, will be hosting  “DC 37 Vaccination Day” at Citi Field on Saturday, March 27 from 9 am-7 pm.

On March 8, 2021, Michael Troman President of Local 375 and Dr. Paul-Michael Kazas Executive Chair of Local 375, and President of Chapter 37 met with NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr.

Employees in titles represented by unions that have collectively bargained an agreement to opt into New York State Paid Family Leave Benefits will be eligible to take paid family leave (“PFL”). PFL is an employee-funded insurance policy that provides job-protected, paid time-off to bond with a newly born, adopted or fostered child, to care for a family member with a serious health condition including preparation and recovery from surgery related to organ or tissue donation, or to assist loved ones when a family member is deployed in a foreign country on active military service.

There is a new Coronavirus strain that cause respiratory illnesses and can be transmitted from person to person. The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) strain was discovered and identified in Wuhan, China during an investigation in an outbreak of respiratory illnesses.

This COVID-19 strain can cause lower respiratory tract illness such as bronchitis or pneumonia. People with pre-existing medical conditions, weakened immune systems and the elderly may be more susceptible to complications from this virus.

DC 37 has joined the four of the state’s largest unions to call for legislation that seeks to protect patients from excessive hospital emergency room charges.

DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido, 32BJ SEIU President Héctor Figueroa, United Federation of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew and Civil Service Employees Association President Danny Donohue backed the legislation in a joint letter they sent to state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and other legislators on June 3.
