ACT NOW: JUST TWO WEEKS LEFT to ERASE YOUR STUDENT DEBT

Dear Members:

Greetings Sisters & Brothers,

Hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable summer and all is well.

NYC’s LABOR PARADE RETURNS to FIFTH AVENUE on SATURDAY SEPT.

Dear Sisters & Brothers,

The Legislators did not come back into session before the end of the year, as was originally scheduled. According to an NYS constitutional law, any bills not acted upon for two years or less must be reintroduced. So now we are waiting for the Early retirement incentive bill to be reintroduced with a new bill number.

DC37 is in the process of speaking to State Senator Andrew Gounardes, who sponsored the bill, to reintroduce this bill. I will keep everyone updated with any new information I receive.

In solidarity,

Greetings Sisters and Brothers,

I would like to share some updated information about the early retirement incentive bill.  Governor Cuomo is not allowing the NY State Senators (legislators) to convene until January.

Please see the Probation Update letter from DC37 OLR, July 10, 2020, below. Many members were concerned about the temporary delay in their probation period so I asked DC 37 Research & Negotiations to speak to OLR about modifying the original letter. DC 37 worked with OLR and MetLife to create this website.

A new website that is available to city employees who are covered by the NYS Paid Family Leave program.  In 2021 a survey of participants who used the program found that employees needed clear information about how to use Paid Family Leave.

In 2023, the program will improve by lowering the payroll deduction from0.511% of income to 0.455% with a lower maximum deduction of $399.43.  In addition, siblings will be covered as an eligible dependent for leave.
