Please see the Probation Update letter from DC37 OLR, July 10, 2020, below. Many members were concerned about the temporary delay in their probation period so I asked DC 37 Research & Negotiations to speak to OLR about modifying the original letter. DC 37 worked with OLR and MetLife to create this website.

A new website that is available to city employees who are covered by the NYS Paid Family Leave program.  In 2021 a survey of participants who used the program found that employees needed clear information about how to use Paid Family Leave.   

In 2023, the program will improve by lowering the payroll deduction from0.511% of income to 0.455% with a lower maximum deduction of $399.43.  In addition, siblings will be covered as an eligible dependent for leave.  

There is a new Coronavirus strain that cause respiratory illnesses and can be transmitted from person to person. The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) strain was discovered and identified in Wuhan, China during an investigation in an outbreak of respiratory illnesses.

This COVID-19 strain can cause lower respiratory tract illness such as bronchitis or pneumonia. People with pre-existing medical conditions, weakened immune systems and the elderly may be more susceptible to complications from this virus.
